Making her all-weather debut, SACRED (Exceed & Excel) and Ryan Moore settled the Gr.3 Chartwell Stakes with a sizzling turn of foot a furlong from home. The William Haggas-trained five-year-old mare looked as good as ever powering two-and-a-quarter lengths clear of Gr.2 winner Sandrine. This was the second victory in the Chartwell Stakes for Cheveley Park Stud, following Echelon‘s success in 2006. Sacred is now likely to be readied for Royal Ascot, where her options include the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and the Gr.2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
Sacred is the first foal out of Sacre Caroline (Blame), a winning half-sister to US Turf Champion Lady Eli (Divine Park). Sacre Caroline has a two-year-old colt by Ulysses named Joycean Way in training with Roger Varian, a yearling filly by Frankel and a colt foal by Frankel.
