Another Milestone for Pivotal Mares

Posted on

WILD BEAUTY (Frankel) became the 25th individual Gr.1 winner out of a PIVOTAL mare when landing the Natalma Stakes at Woodbine for Charlie Appleby, Frankie Dettori and Godolphin over the weekend. Earlier this season, she gained her first bit of black-type when three-and-a-half lengths behind the hugely exciting INSPIRAL (Frankel) in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown.

Wild Beauty is the fourth top level winner from just 20 runners bred on the Frankel/Pivotal cross, joining Cracksman, Veracious and Hungry Heart. Also over the weekend, Christophe Clement’s colt Soldier Rising, who is another representing the Frankel/Pivotal cross, backed up his fine second in the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby with another runner-up finish behind Yibir in the $1,000,000 Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park.

Godolphin’s juvenile filly is the third individual Gr.1 winner so far in 2021 out of a Pivotal mare along with Love (Galileo) and the Australian filly Hungry Heart, who won two Group 1s in the Spring and could add to that tally soon after two very promising recent runs. Other top performers with Pivotal as their damsire this season include Gr.2 winners Sandrine (Bobby’s Kitten) & Kemari (Dubawi) and Gr.3 winners Cloudy Dawn (Kodiac) & Pearls Galore (Invincible Spirit), who was also second in the Gr.1 Matron Stakes.
