PASSENGER (Ulysses) made a triumphant return to action at Windsor over the weekend in the Gr.3 Weatherbys Global Stallions Winter Hill Stakes. Restrained in rear through the early stages by Richard Kingscote, Passenger was sent to challenge the odds-on favourite West Wind Blows inside the final two furlongs. A protracted duel ensued, but Sir Michael Stoute’s three-year-old ultimately managed to hold off the rallying favourite on just his fourth career start. Bred and raced by Flaxman Holdings, Passenger burst onto the scene with victory in the Wood Ditton Stakes. He then caught everyone’s attention with a luckless third in the Dante Stakes prior to shaping as a non-stayer in the Derby.
He is the third group winner of 2023 for Ulysses, alongside G3w WHITE BIRCH and G3w MIGHTY ULYSSES. Other stakes performer this term include Lw PERIPATETIC and G1p PIZ BADILE.
