INSPIRAL (Frankel) and an inspired Frankie Dettori teamed up to land a second successive victory in France’s premier mile contest, the Gr.1 Prix Jacques Le Marois, at Deauville yesterday. This display marked a turn in fortunes for John & Thady Gosden’s dual champion, who had failed to act on heavy ground at Goodwood just eleven days ago. After jumping from stall one, Dettori took back and switched to the other side of the field. Inspiral began to make headway down the flank from 3f out and swiftly put the race to bed as she hit the front with winning momentum at the furlong pole. Inspiral is one of four horses who have won this prestigious race twice along with Miesque, Spinning World and Palace Pier.
Now a Group 1 winner at two, three and four, INSPIRAL is out of the Gr.1-placed mare STARSCOPE (Selkirk). Starscope has a two-year-old colt named MEGASTAR (Siyouni) in training with William Haggas, a yearling colt by Ulysses and a filly foal by Frankel.
