Mighty New Stakes Winner For Ulysses

Posted on

Last seen finishing a close fifth in the Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, MIGHTY ULYSSES (Ulysses) took advantage of a drop in class to regain winning ways in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket. Always prominent in the hands of Frankie Dettori, Mighty Ulysses was briefly headed entering the closing stages but showed a good attitude to rally and run out a classy winner at the line. Trained by John & Thady Gosden for Saeed Suhail, this three-year-old son of Ulysses could now tread the same path as Baaeed and head for the Gr.3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Mighty Ulysses was bred by Hascombe & Valiant Stud and was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for 170,000gns at Tattersalls October Book 1 Sale. He is the third Stakes winner for Ulysses, alongside Gr.1 Irish Derby runner-up Piz Badile and Royal Ascot winning juvenile Holloway Boy.
