Inspiral Spectacular in Coronation

Posted on

INSPIRAL (Frankel) was the star of the show on the Friday of Royal Ascot as she delivered a spectacular performance to land the Gr.1 Coronation Stakes for John & Thady Gosden. Last year’s Champion 2yo Filly appeared to have plenty to do upon turning for home, but she came alive under Frankie Dettori and produced a remarkable turn of foot to run out an emphatic winner on her belated seasonal debut. Inspiral is now unbeaten in five career starts and has received a Timeform rating of 125p, which is the highest ever achieved by a filly or mare to race in the Cheveley Park Stud silks.

This was the fourth victory in the Coronation Stakes for Cheveley Park Stud, following Exclusive (1998), Russian Rhythm (2003) and Nannina (2006). Inspiral also avenged the defeat of her dam Starscope (Selkirk), who was second in this race in 2012. Starscope has a yearling colt by Siyouni, a colt foal by Ulysses and returned to visit Frankel this season.
