Speedsters Crown Royal Meeting

ROHAAN (Mayson) continued his incredible run of form to land the prestigious Wokingham Stakes on the final day of Royal Ascot for David Evans and Chris Kiely Racing. Having won the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at this track and defeated Dragon Symbol in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock, Rohaan reverted to handicap company as geldings are not permitted to run in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup. The hugely progressive son of MAYSON took on his elders off a lofty official mark of 112 but could not be stopped as he stormed to victory with Shane Kelly in the final furlong. Rohaan’s progression has been relentless this season and he could possibly step into Group 1 company for the July Cup on his next start. He capped a wonderful week for Mayson, who also sired Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes winner OXTED and was damsire of the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes winner SIGNIFICANTLY.

Cheveley Park Stud celebrated a second breeding success of the week as Significantly joined Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner Berkshire Shadow on the winner’s roll. Significantly (Garswood) has run excellent races in defeat this season behind the likes of Creative Force and Dragon Symbol, so this talented three-year-old colt was not winning out of turn in Friday’s Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes for Karl Burke.

PIVOTAL enjoyed an excellent week as a broodmare sire with Group 1 winner LOVE, Group 2 winner KEMARI and Group 3 winner SANDRINE. GLEN SHIEL was the sole runner sired by Pivotal at the Royal Meeting and last season’s Group 1 Champions Sprint Stakes hero ran a mighty race to finish second in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes for Archie Watson and Hambleton Racing.
