GOOD GUESS simply the best in Prix Jean Prat

Posted on

The Cheveley Park Stud-bred colt GOOD GUESS (Kodiac) demolished a smart field to cause an upset in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Deauville. Fabrice Chappet’s colt was a smooth scorer of the Group 3 Prix Djebel at the start of the season, but took his form to a completely new level here under Stephane Pasquier. Good Guess came through to lead the main group two furlongs out and only went further clear in the closing stages to land a breathtaking victory for owner Hisaaki Saito.

Good Guess is out of Zykina (Pivotal), who is a daughter of the multiple Gr.1 winner Russian Rhythm. He is one of three black-type performers for his dam, alongside Gr.3 winner Spangled and the Listed-placed Jumira Bridge. Pivotal is now the damsire of a 30 individual Group 1 winners.

Chauvigny Global Equine purchased Good Guess at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale from Cheveley Park Stud for 420,000gns.
