Vetiver takes route to land Eternal Stakes

Posted on

VETIVER (Twilight Son) took her career tally to three wins from five starts with a dramatic victory in the Listed Eternal Stakes at Carlisle. Trapped in behind the leaders with a furlong to go, P J McDonald managed to find a gap at the last minute and his filly showed a courageous turn of foot to land the spoils for Andrew Balding. Vetiver is the second homebred winner of this contest for Cheveley Park Stud, following in the footsteps of the 2018 winner, Dance Diva.

She is out of the once-raced mare Poana (New Approach), who was purchased from the Wildenstein Dispersal for €80,000 in 2016. Her second dam is the Gr.1 Prix Maurice de Gheest heroine Porlezza (Sicyos).

Vetiver is one of two black-type winners and five black-type horses for Twilight Son so far in 2023.
