MOLATHAM (Night of Thunder) made a flying start to his three-year-old season with a game success in the Jersey Stakes (Group 3) at Royal Ascot for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and the Roger Varian stable. A smart two-year-old, Molatham defeated Wichita and Berlin Tango in the Flying Scotsman Stakes (Listed) at Doncaster after winning the valuable Convivial Maiden Stakes at York during his juvenile campaign.
Molatham was consigned by Cheveley Park Stud at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, where he was purchased by Shadwell Estate Company for 160,000gns. He is out of the winning PIVOTAL mare CANTAL, who has also produced the Listed winner PERFECTION (Dutch Art). Molatham’s fourth dam is the exceptional MIESQUE, meaning he has multiple Gr. 1 winners such as ALPHA CENTAURI and EAST OF THE MOON, his third dam, on his page.
Molatham has a two-year-old half-sister called PUY MARY (Intello), who is in training with Roger Varian. In addition, Cantal has a lovely yearling colt by ULYSSES.
