Group 1 winner Unfortunately had his first foal arrive last week when a chesnut colt out of Mrs R J Gallagher’s multiple winner Heartsong (Kheleyf) was born at Batsford Stud. Unfortunately was trained by Karl Burke to become the highest-rated son of Society Rock, who was himself crowned Champion First Crop Sire. Victories in the Group 1 Prix Morny and Group 2 Prix Robert Papin earned Unfortunately an official rating of 117 and he was consequently crowned Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in France. Kept in training at three, Unfortunately also swept to an emphatic success in the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes at Naas.
The only Group 1-winning two-year-old to retire to stud in Great Britain last year, Unfortunately received a quality first book of mares, including a three-parts sister to the dam of Advertise, a half-sister to top juvenile Golden Horde and the dam of Group 2 winners, Penitent and Supplicant.
