THREAT (Footstepsinthesand) added to his Gr. 2 Gimcrack Stakes success with victory in the Gr. 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster under Pat Dobbs. Sent off favourite despite having to carry a 3lb penalty, THREAT scythed through rivals and responded strongly under pressure to hold off the challenge of ROYAL CRUSADE (Shamardal).
Bred by Ringfort Stud and trained by Richard Hannon, THREAT made a winning debut over 5f at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile in May before finishing second in the Gr. 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. A runner-up finish in the Gr. 2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood has since been followed by back-to-back Gr. 2 triumphs and he looks ready to graduate to Gr. 1 company. THREAT holds entries in the Gr. 1 Middle Park Stakes and Gr. 1 Dewhurst Stakes.
