Threat Stamps Class On Gimcrack

Posted on

THREAT (Footstepsinthesand) delivered on his immense promise with a commanding victory in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York. A winner over five furlongs on debut, Threat was runner-up in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and Group 2 Richmond Stakes on his next two starts. The Richard Hannon trained colt set the record straight, however, with a classy victory in the hands of Oisin Murphy on the Knavesmire.

Threat is the second winner for Cheveley Park Stud in the Gimcrack Stakes, following MUSIC BOY’s success in the 1975 edition. Music Boy subsequently retired to stand as a successful stallion at Cheveley Park Stud, claiming Champion First Season Sire honours and proving a reliable source of winners.
