Advertise Clinches Third Group 1

Posted on

Cheveley Park Stud homebred, ADVERTISE (Showcasing), stormed to a third Group 1 success at the weekend for Phoenix Thoroughbreds in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest. Victorious in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at two and in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot this year, Martyn Meade’s three-year-old colt lined up in Deauville off the back of an excellent second place finish in the Group 1 July Cup on fast ground. ADVERTISE travelled strongly under Frankie Dettori and was not for passing in the final furlong, showing great tenacity to fend off the challenge of previous winner of the race, BRANDO (Pivotal). A consistently top-class performer, Advertise has only been out of the first two once in nine starts and that particular effort can be excused as the Meade team was suffering with a virus when he took part in the 2000 Guineas.

Out of FURBELOW (Pivotal), Advertise was one of ten Group 1 winners for PIVOTAL as a broodmare sire in 2018. He is also one of five individual Group 1 winners for Pivotal so far in 2019, and one of two dual-Group 1 winners along with HERMOSA (Galileo). Furbelow has a terrific ULYSSES filly foal at foot and is back in foal to SHOWCASING.
