What a weekend for Pivotal!

Cheveley Park Stud’s stalwart stallion Pivotal had a truly amazing weekend when he had 4 Stakes winners and also showed his increasing importance by being the broodmare sire of a further two Group 1 winners.

It all started off when the Godolphin homebred AVILIUS won the Group 3 Bart Cummings Stakes at Flemington. Further Group success for Pivotal came at Ascot when the Hamdan Al Maktoum owned and bred LARAAIB won the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes for trainer Owen Burrows. Not long after the Werteimer et Frere homebred ALIGNEMENT won his first Stakes event by taking the Group 2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp.

The following day it was the turn of the Gestüt Ittlingen’s homebred NIKKEI to win the Group 3 Silbernes Pferd at Hoppegarten. He won this with real authority and a bright future awaits.

Meanwhile back at Longchamp, Pivotal was underlying his great importance as a broodmare sire when the David Armstrong homebred MABS CROSS (by Dutch Art) showed a tremendous turn of foot to win the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines. Later another grandaughter ONE MASTER (by Fastnet Rock) owned and bred by Lael Stales, also showed a fine turn of foot to land the Group 1 Qatar Prix de la Foret.
