What is believed to be the first foal by TWILIGHT SON arrived at Cheveley Park Stud on Tuesday, 16th January. The attractive colt is out of Cardrona (Selkirk), who is a full sister to the Stakes winner Selinka (Selkirk), and is from the same family as Stakes winners Hit The Bid (Exceed and Excel) and Log Out Island (Dark Angel).
Stud Manager, Andrew Snell, said of the new arrival ‘He is a powerfully built and well balanced colt with a good shoulder, who looks sure to be a strong and precocious individual, very much like his sire and grandsire, Kyllachy.’
TWILIGHT SON was unbeaten in his first five starts which culminated in an impressive victory, in what was his first run at Group level, in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock, in doing so he beat four previous Group 1 winners. However, his finest hour came when battling to victory in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he yet again displayed a willing and tenacious attitude to get the better of his rivals in a driving finish.
TWILIGHT SON was extremely well supported in his first year at Stud covering a full book of 142 mares, including the dams of Stakes’ winners Penitent, Tariq, Aetna and Supplicant.
TWILIGHT SON’s fee for 2018 is £10,000 (1st October, Special Live Foal Terms), with nominations still available.
