Another Group 1 win for Twilight Son.

Owner - Godfrey Wilson & Cheveley Park Stud

Breeder - Mrs C. R. D. Wilson

Trainer - Henry Candy

In what was one of the most memorable races of Royal Ascot 2106, Twilight Son got his head in front of a blanket finish for the prestigious Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes. The race, run in slow early fractions, turned into literally a sprint to the line where many had chances but the son of Kyllachy wanted it more and stuck his head out for a courageous win. Jockey Ryan Moore reported that Twilight Son ‘travelled very strongly and I always felt when I asked him he would go and win’. He added ‘When I rode him last year he felt like a very good horse and he had obviously taken a while to come to hand this year, but Mr. Candy was very confident about him. He’s done little wrong and the pace wasn’t strong enough for him - he’d be better if they were going quicker’.

This was the colts second win in Group 1 company and will now go on and compete in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket in July.

This completed a very satisfactory couple of days for the Cheveley Park Stud stalwart Kyllachy, whose 3yo son Kachy, was an unlucky loser in the  Commonwealth  Cup  (Group 1) at Royal Ascot. He was only beaten one length and would have been much closer had he not veered across the track. His time will come.

Kyllachy has another good filly.

Owner/Breeder - Scuderia Blueberry

Trainer - S. Botti

Mujadil Lachy by the Cheveley Park Stud stalwart Kyllachy, made it two from two with a comprehensive win in the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi at the San Siro racecourse in Milan. Ridden from just off the pace she won this juvenile 6 furlong event without fuss and looks to have a bright future.

Ashadihan realises potential.

Owner - T. A. Rahman

Breeder - Highbank Stud Ltd.

Trainer - K. Ryan

The Kyllachy filly Ashadihan showed a rare turn of foot when winning the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield. Showing real potetntial as a juvenile from limited starts, this Kevin Ryan trained filly sat in the rear of this open contest and burst through inside the final furlong to win well. She has more to give and remains a filly of real promise.

Barleysugar wins on American debut.

Owner - Red Baron’s Barn &Rancho Temescal

Breeder - Mrs James Wigan

Trainer - E. Freeman

The ex Sir Michael Stoute trained Barleysugar won on her U.S. Debut when taking the Listed Sandy Blue Handicap at Del Mar. Stalking the early pace the daughter of Kyllachy made ground two furlongs from home and readily won this first venture into Stakes company. She could well continue to progress.
