First Foal for Garswood

What is believed to be the first foal by GARSWOOD arrived at Elkington Stud on Friday, 15th January. The attractive filly is out of Galante (Librettist), who is from the same family as Group 3 winner Discreet Brief (Darshaan) and Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes winner Steeler (Raven’s Pass).

Elkington Stud owner, Jane Keir, said of the new arrival ‘She is bay with a white star, strong and neat. She was straight up on to her legs, and did everything very easily. We are delighted with her’.

A promising start for Garswood

It has been a busy start to the foaling season at Cheveley Park Stud, where 21 foals have been born in recent weeks. There have been several notable new arrivals, including a powerful bay colt on 26th January out of Oasis Mirage (Oasis Dream) from the first crop of the Group 1 winning sprinter Garswood (Dutch Art). The newborn weighed in at a respectable 52 kilograms. Oasis Mirage is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Evasive (Elusive Quality) and is a granddaughter of multiple Group 1 winner East Of The Moon (Private Account), and great granddaughter of the mighty Miesque (Nureyev). Oasis Mirage visits Dutch Art in 2016.

Managing Director, Chris Richardson, said of Garswood’s first foals; Although early in the year, the bay colt we have out of Oasis Mirage is certainly an imposing individual, especially being a first foal, who is correct, balanced and rich in colour. Reports are favourable, so fingers crossed that the first foals by this Group 1 winning son of Dutch Art, who will have over 100 foals born this season, catch the imagination”.

Garswood makes a mark at the Goffs foal sales.

The first foals of Garswood sold for up to €80,000 and averaged  over €40,000 at the Goffs Foals sales this week. People are excited by the son of Dutch Art and we look forward to seeing them at Newmarket next week.
