Stepping up to 7 furlongs here, GARSWOOD took the always competitive Free Handicap by and easy 2 1/4 lengths. This was his second win in Listed company and the son of Dutch Art now runs in the 2000 Guineas, and the ease that he won this would give him a chance in the first Classic of the year.

HOT SNAP was unable to go the early pace in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket (Gr.3), when all of a sudden she came onto the scene at the legendary 'Bushes'. Soon afterwards, the daughter of Pivotal hit the front and won this trial easily. She has to improve a fair bit for this and looks to have a huge chance in the 1000 Guineas.

27/02/2013   First mares in foal to Mayson.

MAYSON, Group 1 July Cup winner and leading sprinter of 2012, has had his first three mares successfully scanned in foal. Including the Stakes winner Hypnotize (Machiavellian) who is herself already a dual Stakes producer, being the dam of Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner and champion 2 year old filly Hooray (Invincible Spirit), and the Listed winner Hypnotic (Lomitas). MAYSON has taken to stallion duties extremely well, and has not surprisingly been strongly supported in his first season at stud. As part of Cheveley Park Stud’s policy of supporting its own stallions, MAYSON has been patronised by a selection of mares from the stud’s high quality broodmare band, as well as by many other discerning breeders. Mares visiting MAYSON in 2013 include the dams of Group 1 winners Virtual, Excellent Art and Peeress, as well the dams of Group 2 winners Penitent and Danehurst. He is also set to cover the half sisters to the Group 1 winners Marienbard, Sulk and Echelon, and the Group 2 winner Sand Vixen. Cheveley Park Stud Managing Director, Chris Richardson said; ‘Mayson continues to thrive physically and has certainly taken to his new role with enthusiasm, and we are delighted he is off to such a positive start to his stallion career.’ MAYSON’s fee for 2013 is £8,000 (1st October, Live Foal Free Return Terms).

20/10/2012   Sapphire shines at Ascot

Sapphire
Owner/Breeder - Moyglare Stud Farm
Trainer - D. Weld
Sapphire is a most consistent filly and showed that she was still improving when winning the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes at Ascot. She stays in training for 2013, and could have a sparkling season.

20/10/2012   Maarek still progressing to win Group 2.

Maarek
Breeder - New England Stud & P J & P M Vela
Owner - Lisbunny Syndicate
Trainer - D. Nagle
Placed off top weight in the Ayr Gold Cup in heavy ground when allotted 10 stones, is not the ideal trial for a Group 2 event but if did tell us that Maareek is a most progressive sprinter and so it proved. He took the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes most impressively and never looked in danger.

14/10/2012   Siyouma wins the E.P. Taylor.

Siyouma
Breeder - HH The Aga Khan
Owner - R. Jeffcock
Trainer - F. Doumen
Siyouma completed a most notable double when winnning the E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine, Canada. Settled in midfield, Siyouma was always travelling well and quickened up nicely to win cosily. She has developed into a top filly over the season.

06/10/2012   Mince wins her first Group race.

Mince
Breeder - The Rt Hon Lord Rothschild
Owner - Lady Rothschild
Trainer - R. Charlton
Mince won the Group 3 Bengough Stkes at Ascot on her least favourite soft ground. Mince is such a good moving filly that she usually bounces off a fast track but the progressive Medicean filly was made to work harder than normal to prevail at the finish. She should be a most exciting filly to follow in 2013.
