EARLSWOOD (Pivotal) announced his arrival on the Australian racing circuit with a highly promising first-up victory in the Gr.3 Carlyon Cup at Caulfield for his new handler Maddie Raymond. Owned by Mr Glyn Davies & Mrs J Davies, Earlswood became Pivotal’s 87th individual Group winner when landing the Gr.3 Gallinule Stakes for Johnny Murtagh back in May 2021. Following a very creditable 4th in the Gr.1 Irish Derby, Earlswood defied a penalty in the Gr.3 Royal Whip Stakes on his penultimate start in Ireland. A 4yo entire, he holds entries in the Gr.1 Australian Cup and Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Earlswood was bred by Cheveley Park Stud out of the Gr.2-placed mare Field of Miracles (Galileo). Sold to Bobby O’Ryan as a foal for 62,000gns, Earlswood was purchased by Glyn Davies as a yearling for €160,000 at Goffs Orby Sale. He is a full-brother to the Chester Cup and Saudi Arabian Gr.1 (local) winner MAKING MIRACLES, who is set to contest the Gr.1 Saudi Cup on Saturday, 26th February. Field of Miracles has a 2yo filly by Pivotal called Eleanor Cross to be trained by Andrew Balding and is carrying a foal by Mayson.
