Inspiral Stars at Cartier Awards

Unbeaten homebred INSPIRAL was crowned Champion Two-Year-Old Filly at last night’s Cartier Racing Awards at the Dorchester Hotel. Trained by John & Thady Gosden, the daughter of Frankel has won all four of her starts impressively and heads into winter quarters as favourite for the 1000 Guineas. Inspiral’s victories to date include the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown, Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster and Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket. Inspiral follows in the footsteps of GAY GALLANTA, who captured the same award for Cheveley Park Stud in 1994.

The ability of Cheveley Park Stud sire DUTCH ART was showcased once again at the awards as his son STARMAN collected Champion Sprinter honours for his owner-breeder David Ward. Starman’s defining performance came at Newmarket when he burst clear of a vintage field in the Group 1 July Cup. This is the second time in four years that Dutch Art has sired the winner of this award, with MABS CROSS also being crowned champion for David & Emma Armstrong in 2018.
