The victory of homebred filly INSPIRAL (Frankel) in the Gr. 1 Fillies’ Mile was the jewel in the crown of a fantastic weekend for Cheveley Park Stud. The weekend got even better when CANONIZED (Acclamation) landed the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York. WIlliam Haggas’s filly has enjoyed a terrific season and finally got her day in the sun on Saturday with Tom Marquand aboard.
A change of codes could not stop the winners flowing on Sunday as ONTHEROPES (Presenting) ran out an impressive winner of the Munster National at Limerick for Willie Mullins and Sean O’Keeffe. The 7yo gelding had only run once in the previous 575 days, but that was when a very encouraging second to Monkfish in a Novice Chase last November. Ontheropes more than confirmed the promise of that run with a largely polished display here on his handicap debut. He should have plenty more to offer going forwards.
